July 4 Charlie Rhindress
Playwright Charlie Rhindress, who adapted Bruce Graham’s Ivor Johnson’s Neighbours for the stage, will be reading from a number of his new works including Old Wounds, Boo, and In God’s Closet. There will be a special reunion of “Ma” , a.k.a. Charlie, with her “daughter”, played by Pamela Halstead, from his hit play, The Maritime Way of Life.
July 18 Bruce Graham
The author of Ivor Johnson’s Neighbours, Bruce Graham, will read from two of his new unpublished works: the novel, Diligent River Daughter, and a collection of short stories entitled Footsteps Along the Way.
August 1 Special Reading
The Summer of the Handley Page by Carol Sinclair. To commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Ship’s Company, there will be a full play reading of The Summer of the Handley Page at 8 pm at Ship’s Company Theatre.
August 8 Carol Sinclair
Ferry Tales playwright, Carol Sinclair, shares excerpts from two of her new works: Our Town Too, and Causeway, based on the novel by Lyndon MacIntyre. Carol also invites folks to come and share their own memories and stories from the “Kip” in the wake of the Ferry Tales opening.
August 22 Catherine Banks
Governor General’s Award winning playwright, Catherine Banks, will read from Bone Cage ( GG Award for Drama 2008) and from two of her new works: Missy and Me and It is Solved by Walking.
Readings are 1 p.m. at the Destination Gallery on Main Street in Parrsboro, with
the exception of the August 1st reading at 8 p.m. at Ship’s Company Theatre.
