The (Post) Mistress
The (Post) Mistress, Book, Lyrics, and Music by Tomson Highway, makes its Atlantic Canada Premiere. The second Mainstage production runs August 3rd through August 28th. Directed by Andrew Lamb, the show stars Martha Irving with Musical Direction from pianist Holly Arsenault and saxophone by Mitchell Clarke.
A charming new musical by one of Canada’s most original writers, The (Post) Mistress recounts the journey of a small-town postmistress who has an uncanny ability to guess the contents of sealed letters that pass through her hands. Marie-Louise has worked at the same post office for many years, and knows the tales, gossip, and emotional life of her community. Through the letters (songs) she lays bare the intimate secrets of people’s lives.
