Garrett MasonPARRSBORO NS: Blues legend-in-the-making Garrett Mason will heat up the stage in a live performance at Ship’s Company Theatre in Parrsboro on Sunday, September 5 at 8p.m.

Garrett Mason is a true bluesman at heart. Son of veteran Canadian Bluesman, Dutch Mason, Garrett was taught by his father the structure of the Blues which has influenced his incredible sound.

Garrett’s debut album featured his talent for strong original songs, a voice that is reminiscent of a veteran performer and his extraordinary aptitude for playing electric guitar. Garrett’s original talent was awarded in 2005 when he received a Juno for Best Blues Album for I’m Just a Man. Garrett’s band released their second album Love and Sound, which was nominated for a Juno Award, and was awarded as Blues Recording of the Year from Music Nova Scotia.

Garrett’s distinctive Blues/Funk groove is in demand at Blues events and venues far and wide, and he will again be a key performer at the annual Dutch Mason Blues Festival, held in Truro in August. Garrett is at home in the company of the Blues greats, sharing the stage with crooner and guitarist Sue Foley, and opening for the King of the Blues, B.B. King, at the  venerable Massey Hall in Toronto. A recent gig at St John’s Blues bar during Juno week had the members of the prolific Downchild Blues Band, forty-year Blues veterans, in awe of Garrett’s musical prowess.
