World-class Jazz with Murley, Occhipinti in Parrsboro

Saxophonist Mike Murley has emerged as one of the nation’s finest jazz artists and one of the most versatile players on the scene today. His many critically acclaimed recordings have placed him at the forefront of Canada’s jazz scene, with a Juno win for his “Two Sides” CD. He has been voted ‘saxophonist of the year’ eight times by the Jazz Report Awards and the National Jazz Awards. Murley is an esteemed International performer and a respected music educator, teaching at York University in Toronto and the prestigious Banff Centre for the Arts

One of Murley’s most frequent collaborations is in a duo setting with renowned guitarist David Occhipinti. The intimate musical rapport which developed during their live performances led to their first recording, “Duologue”, nominated for a June in 2004; their acclaimed second recording, “Duologue Vol 2”, was released in 2005.

The duo will bring their world-class jazz to the stage at Ship’s Company Theatre in Parrsboro on Monday, July 28th at 7:30 p.m.
