Folk Music's "Man of a Thousand Songs" To Perform at Ship’s Company Theatre
With a songwriting career that spans more than thirty years, Ron Hynes is a six-time East Coast Music Award winner, a Genie Award winner and a past Juno, Canadian Country Music Association and Canadian Folk Music Awards nominee.
Frequently referred to as the "man of a thousand songs", Ron Hyne's compositions have been performed by dozens of acclaimed artists worldwide. He began his career as a singer-songwriter on the coffeehouse circuit in the early seventies, and while on a Canadian theatre tour with The Mummers Troupe in '76, he composed a song called "Sonny’s Dream" which has become a folk classic.
Hynes continues to record and tour, and has been conferred with an Honourary PhD from Memorial University for his songwriting and his contribution to the cultural life of his beloved home province of Newfoundland.
Ron Hynes will perform on Monday, July 21 at the Ship’s Company Theatre in Parrsboro.
