Ship’s Company Golf Tournament a Resounding Hit
It was a day bright with sunshine and brimming with good will as golfers gathered at the spectacular Parrsboro Golf Club for the 7th Annual Ship’s Company Theatre Golf Tournament.
After a day of competition and camaraderie, special prizes were awarded for the Longest Drive, Men - Allison Mills; Longest Drive, Ladies - Janet McLaren; Straightest Drive - Eileen Gaetz; Closest to the Pin - Harry Thurston. The team with the lowest score was the contingent from Kerr Heating Products, consisting of players Tim Babineau, Allison Mills and Stacy Mills, while the ‘Dora Divas’ were awarded the distinction of the ‘Most Honest Team’, that with the highest overall score.
Following eighteen holes of golf, a barbeque of delectable, naturally-raised Nova Scotia beef from O’Connell’s Family Farm in Otter Brook was relished by all present.
Of special interest to many were the visiting actors and director of the Ship’s Company Theatre’s upcoming Mainstage production, BUMP, now in rehearsal for a run from July 2th to July 27th.
“This was the most fun I’ve had at a Ship’s Company event, ever!” exclaimed one enthusiastic participant. “I met new people, and together we had a really great time”.
Along with the generous support by O’Regans Automobile Dealerships in the provision of a ‘Hole-in-One’ prize, the addition of individual ‘Hole Sponsorships’ raised both the profile and the proceeds of this important annual fundraising event.
